Prom Dress Shopping for Plus-Size Girls

Last February the very concept of prom dress shopping made me stressed. I knew it would be next to impossible to find a store that I could go try on dresses in. Luckily it turned out that there was a bridal/formal wear shop in the tiny town of Middletown, DE that carried plus-sized dresses. It was a smaller collection but the experience of trying on all of these princess-like dresses with my mom there was so amazing to me and something I never thought I would find.

While I didn’t fall in love with any of them that day that experience meant the world to me. It is definitely worth a call into stores in your town to see if they carry a plus line. The website that seemed to carry everything in many sizes (and even has an option to submit your measurements and have it custom cut) is JJsHouse.com. Where To Find Plus-Size Prom Dresses

JJ’s House – Amazing selection, affordable prices and you have the option of sending in your own personal measurements(but then it is non-refundable)

Sydney’s Closet – This is a line of classic true prom dresses for plus size girls. Think of Sherri Hill in extended sizes.

Rent the Runway – A great option if you’re asking the question we all are asking, what the hell am I going to do with this dress after prom? You order a dress you like (for way cheaper than it actually costs) and it’s delivered to you a day before prom and you send it back the day after. Just be sure you know your size since it can’t be altered!

David’s Bridal – A great option if there is one nearby where you can go try on dresses in the store!

Macy’s – It takes a lot of time to sort through their site and their racks but you’ll almost always find a great hidden gem.

ASOS Curve – If you’re looking for a more modern, little less stereotypical prom dress then ASOS Curve has some great options for you.

Just remember that Prom is a time to celebrate and have fun with your friends, so own it and have the night of your life!
